The Dawson Extended Family Site

not an announcement

By Hannah

This is not an announcement.

I saw Emma’s post and Alexa’s post and Will’s legal statement and Sunday trying to overthrow the entire website, so I figured I should write something before somebody else writes something for me.

I am twenty-two.

That is my whole update.

I am in school. I am busy. I am happy. I am not answering follow-up questions from cousins under the age of fifteen or aunts who begin sentences with “I don’t mean to pry.”

If there is ever anything to announce, I will announce it myself.

hello goodbye

Sadie told me not to post this because she thinks it is weird.

I agree that it is weird.

But I read Grandpa’s post.

The one from the day we were born.

request for site modernization

hi.

this website is cute in an ancient way but also kind of a nightmare.

i’m not saying that to be mean. i’m saying it because i clicked three things and one of them took me to a post from 2013 where somebody said “this ain’t gonna be good” and then nothing loaded for fifteen seconds.

i’m seventeen. i know how to make things load.

emma says this is an archive and not “a content platform,” which is the most millennial sentence i have ever heard in my life.

i think we should keep the old posts but add tags.

regarding the post titled "girls???"

By Will

I have been informed that my 2013 post has been referenced publicly.

I would like to state, for the record, that I was fifteen.

I would also like to state that Tyler helped me write it, which seems important legally and emotionally.

Kate laughed for eleven minutes.

family announcement about family announcements

By Alexa

Emma told me she was posting on the website again and my first thought was absolutely not.

My second thought was does Mom know?

My third thought was please tell me there is no comment section.

There is a comment section.

I am choosing peace.

For those of you who are somehow reading this because Emma sent the link in the family group chat and then immediately muted everyone, hello. It’s Alexa. I was twenty in the old posts, which means I was apparently considered one of the adults.

thirteen years later

By Emma

So.

I didn’t know this website still existed.

Actually, that’s not true. I think a part of me knew it existed in the same way I know there are probably old Claire’s earrings somewhere in a box in my childhood bedroom, or a math worksheet from 2011 folded inside a book nobody has opened since Obama was president. Technically possible. Spiritually concerning.

But I did not know it still worked.

That feels like an important distinction.

I found it because Reid and I are having a baby.
